A Powerful Day at the Save Energy Expo

Nearly 200 people turned out for the recent Save Energy Expo at Bonny Hills Surf Life Saving Club — an event powered by passionate local community groups including the Bonny Hills Progress Association (BHPA).

The day offered hands-on experiences and expert advice on everything from electric vehicles to home battery storage:

Essential Energy demonstrated bidirectional charging using Sigenergy’s home battery system and a Ford F150 Lightning EV — powering a TV, electric BBQ, and a fridge full of drinks.
PMHC and local EV owners brought their vehicles to display, while Miedecke Motor Group and Patrick Auto Group showcased the latest EV models available for test drive and purchase.
Wauchope Solar’s stall was kept busy answering questions about solar, heat pumps, and EV charging.

Home battery storage generated a lot of interest on the day – driven by generous government rebates and rising power bills.

Break out sessions provided options to delve deeper

Six breakout sessions explored key topics like home energy efficiency, EV ownership, and getting the most from solar. Attendees also learnt how to electrify their homes with induction cooktops, heat pumps and reverse cycle air conditioners.

Feedback from the BHPA’s post-event survey was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees praising both the speakers and the overall value of the day, and calling for the Expo to return.
