Beyond the Bin – A guided tour of our waste facilities

Three images one showing a recycling truck, the second showing the sorter at the MRF and third showing baled recycling

Ever wondered what happens to your waste after the truck empties your bin? Join us on a Beyond the Bin tour and see for yourself!

This behind-the-scenes experience takes you on a guided journey to discover what happens to your waste after it leaves your kerbside.

What to expect from a day on tour

Hop on the bus at Player’s Theatre in Port Macquarie or Sovereign Hills Shopping Complex, and we’ll start by taking you for a drive through Kingfisher Waste Transfer Station. Here, you’ll learn about the many items you can drop off for free and see the former landfill site.

Then, we’re off to Cairncross Waste Management Facility—the largest and busiest waste facility in our region. One of our waste experts will join us as we tour the site, offering insights into how different types of waste are processed.

Finally, we’ll gather in the Education Room at the MRF for an interactive session. There’s plenty of time for questions, and you’ll leave with useful resources to help you waste less and recycle right!
