Connecting Young People - A Voice to Local Government
What is Hastings Youth Voice?
The Hastings Youth Voice (HYV) serves as an important connection to Port Macquarie Hastings Council, advocating for a community that supports young people both now and in the future.
Appointed by the Council, HYV is a group of young leaders dedicated to ensuring that the voices of youth, aged 12-25, are heard. We talk with our peers, host youth events, and communicate the real needs of young people to the Council.
"We're focused on tackling issues that matter to young people, promoting a positive image of our generation, and organising events like Youth Week. We share our thoughts with the Council on important things like transportation, housing, sustainability, recreation assets, events, and arts and culture programs. It feels really rewarding knowing that we're helping shape decisions that impact us directly!"
Our Mission
Our mission goes beyond making youth happy; it’s about shaping active citizens and making youth needs a priority in our community, today and for years to come.
Our Commitment
We are dedicated to active participation, respectful dialogue, and professional representation. We work to influence local government decisions and foster an inclusive community where every young person can thrive.
